Former University of Southern California (USC) RB Joe McKnight was shot to death in Terrytown, Louisiana on Thursday, December 1 2016. The ex-NFL athlete was just 28 years old.
RB McKnight, coming from John Curtis High School in New Orleans, in 2007 was the nations top recruit and committed to play college ball as a Trojan at USC. Playing for three full healthy years, he rushed for 2,200+ yards and 13 touchdowns before he made the transition from college to the NFL after his junior year.
In 2010, the New York Jets saw potential in McKnight and drafted the college phenom in the fourth quarter. Contributing to the team forthree good years and serving as the teams top kick-returner for two consecutive seasons. After his days as a Jet, he was out from the league until he was taken by the Kansas City Cheifs in 2014. Unfortunately, he was taken away from the game after facing an achilles injury.
Within a four year NFL career, Joe McKnight had 113 carries for 505 yards, 23 receptions for 241 yards and two touchdowns in addition to 2,270 kick return yards.
A year later after the NFL, McKnight then relocated and played in the Canadian Football League
